Sweet Water
The idea for this book came at the onset of the Covid pandemic. Amid Covid time, what I referred to as a fluid paradox. “Where days of dark fold and fade upon one another” and where I was unable to decipher one day from the next. Feeling stalled and stale seemingly erased in some phantom’s portal.
Despite the many challenges, mostly uncomfortable, I found solace in all the quietness. Everything seemed to slow…way down. I read, cleaned, organized and let my hair grow. I learned that there is mindfulness in simply doing the dishes… an art to getting quiet.
I began to feel the poetry of everyday life and the new feelings I was experiencing . The simple act of doing those dishes. Present and aware. In the way that the water felt warming my cold hands and aware of all the human acts that occur to get that water to me. It was through this experience that lead me to create The Book Sweet Water- A collection of photographs, poetry and interactive writing prompts using water as a metaphor in a journey towards self, purpose and mindfulness.
